Amazing food, still great presentation on everything. Polite staff and clean atmosphere.

Was pleasantly surprised with this Japanese restaurant find it in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I have lived in major cities on either coast and spent most of my time around those areas, so I do not know much about the cuisine offered in the middle of the country. I am a big fan of Asian cuisine, and was pleasantly surprised with the offerings and quality! They had a dinner special of ordering two rolls and receiving a third for free. I cannot eat three rolls, but I gave it the old college try anyway. Which I wound up having to force my dad to eat a few pieces. On the upside it was great food and I got my dad to eat something other than teriyaki or tempura!

yet another Sioux Falls sushi place takes a nose dive. Server us rolls with sauce pooling on the plate. Tried to tell us it's always been that way. Will not be going back

Great hibachi service and food was great! Even had a hand roll and was sold for a return visit soon.

My first visit here, it has nice interior design and clean. Though I didn't appreciate the service I got from the manager/owner and policies. We got sushi instead of hibachi at a mutual gathering. They got our sushi order incorrect and had to take it back after raw sushi plate was sitting with us for 20mins; they modified and took out the incorrect ones, and then brought it back. It's also ridiculous that they made a coupon that I couldn't use because other people at the hibachi table used a coupon. They said I couldn't used it cause there was limit per table. I had spend over a subtotal of $60 for two and still couldn't used a coupon; while they knew they had my order incorrect. What difference would it have been if I have ordered $60 worth of sushi across the room and not sit at the hibachi table. Would I still been able to use their coupon?! For paying that much and not get great quality of service, I'm upset. If I had known how incompetent the manager/owner is, I wouldn't have came just for sushi.

Tried sushi for the first time on Tokyo on 57th and Louise and I have got to say, it was delicious. I am not normally a big fan of fish, expecially raw, but this was so fresh I did not notice any odor or bad taste. I am very happy with our experience and the staff is very helpful in explaining all the different kinds. We tried crab, salmon and tuna rolls and unfortunately I don't remember the exact names but all three were delicious not to mention the appearance when they come to the table is amazing with their presentation. Thank you for experience!

I have eaten here twice and both times have had an EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE. The sushi here is just as fresh as you'll get in Colorado and the service here is better. Pricing is VERY GOOD as well. I definately look forward to eating here again!!

First time to this restaurant. Wanted to sit outside on the patio, because it was an unusually beautiful summer night, but the patio was not open - in fact, looked like it was never open. Greeted very nicely by the hostess who seated us and promptly by our waiter, who did a nice job of explaining the menu. We choose to sit in the regular seating, rather than the hibachi seating, but were told that we could still order from the hibachi menu. Ordered the Chef's sampler plate sushi appetizer. It was okay - not great. Plating was nothing special. My friend and myself both order the shrimp hibachi meal. We received a salad and soup shortly after ordering. The salad was terrible. It was more like a soup with some lettuce and shredded carrots thrown in it. There was literally a half cup of salad dressing still in the bowl when we finished eating the lettuce. The soup was lukewarm dishwater with no flavor whatsoever and had 2 slices of mushroom and some unknown substance floating in it. Thankfully one of the waitstaff came and grabbed it off our our table before we were even done eating it. After 30 minutes, our waiter came to the table to apologize that our main course had not arrived yet because he had accidentally put our ticket on the hibachi side of the ticket holder, rather than the regular side. He was very nice - probably the only saving grace of the evening. When our entree arrived, 15 minutes later, the only thing warm on the plate was the mound of rice in the middle of the plate. The shrimp was cold, the vegetables barely warm and all of it was just dumped onto the plate. Of course, we were so hungry by this time, that we ate some of it anyway. We didn't want to complain and have to wait 45 minutes for more food. Very disappointing for a $30/person meal. I will never go back there again. I'll make the drive to the other side of town and stick with Coco Palace - where the food is amazing and the presentation very pretty!

Largely over priced for the Hibachi menu relative to the portions. Food is fantastic though. Sushi is high quality but pricey.

I so wanted this place to be really good -- but, alas, it's not. I don't think the ventilation system is too good because upon entering you're assaulted with an almost overwhelming grease smell. We we're asked if we preferred "hibachi seating" or "regular seating. Since we had zero information on the "hibachi" seating, we chose to be seated in the "general" section. Our waitress came to the table almost 15 minutes after we arrived. We ordered. My food was delivered after about a 20 minute wait -- but my wife's food didn't come. The waitress said "it'll be out in a minute" .... well, the "minute" turned into 15+ minutes. Meanwhile we shared my order. It was fairly good. Then, when my wife's was finally delivered it was not what she'd ordered. The east side of Sioux Falls desperately needs some nice restaurants. I was hoping the Tokyo would be one. It's not.

ORIGINAL POST: Food is amazing! Aky the hibachi chef, the best! Service tonight... Piss poor, very rude hostess... And out of Sapporo? UPDATED: I should elaborate on this now that the hell night is over. First visit there (old owners) - i give 7 stars! was a perfect experience, perfect food, the most fun you can have with a group out to eat. period. Second visit - decided, since first was so amazing, to bring my family... New owner, Hibachi chef we had really, i mean REALLY did not want to be there. He was boring, no fun, and had to be prodded at the end to squirt a little sake in our faces to liven things up. But the moral of this story boils down to a complete breakdown from Owners/Managers on down. Hostess was the most rude I have ever imagined. Rude to my family and myself on multiple encounters. Their credit card machines were down, only because they decided (or needed) to re-submit paperwork to the company that runs them - which takes time, not overnight.. but that didn't bother me. 1 hr. to get a drink. The wait staff that was there, She (singular) was great, she got our orders right, especially considering there were 12 demanding customers after some some drinks. The food this time was just so-so. we Did have a Foxy Lady sushi roll, which was awesome, and created 3 new sushi lovers just because of it. We sprung for the Full thing, Filet, Lobster, Scallops - the works. Lobster was not great, and surprisingly the Chicken was the winner! Chef undercooked the scallops, Ran out of Scallops, and when you have to order 2 drinks at a time, just to ensure you have them, it really ruins what could have been a great experience. I shared my frustration with new owner and confronted the Hostess about the attitude. I don't care how busy your restaurant is, there's no excuse for the rude, and lack of service we were shown. This is the NEW TRENDY place to go out to eat, and based on the reputation the other Tokyo locations have (STELLAR!!) - New Owners beware not to run your customers out of town... and keep in mind, Fuji Hibachi is opening soon, and I hear those of the owners that run a tight ship. I'm glad i had the experience i did here, but very sorry for the one i had the second time around. I sure hope things change.

Wow! Tremendous meal, excitingly prepared, by an excellent staff for a fair price. That said, the family also agreed, this was one of the best dining experience we have enjoyed in any part of the country. We had a variety of of items, including filet mignon, lobster, shrimp, scallops, chicken, sirloin steak, squid, salmon, soup, fried rice, salad, and vegetables. The majority of these selections were prepared by a very entertaining hibachi chef. If you like great food at a fair price, prepared by a fantastic staff, you only have one choice!

It's your gamble.... might be good, probably not... I have to downgrade Tokyo due to repeatedly inconsistent quality and service levels, sorry folks, I probably won't be back. Burnt steak, greasy food, overcooked chicken, over-salted rice, over cooked shrimp... and no server to even talk to about it... and then to not even address the complaints? sorry I'm done with Tokyo for a while...
